What is the purpose of plinth? 

When planning your kitchen, it's worthwhile to occasionally shift your focus down to the floor level. The purpose of the plinth is to conceal the wires and pipes running beneath the furniture and facilitate the cleanliness of the kitchen. Without a plinth, the kitchen might look incomplete, but beyond providing a polished feel, the plinth also influences the kitchen's style.

Size Matters

A.S.Helsingö kitchens are built on Ikea frames, and that's why our plinths are lower than those of many other kitchens. The plinth suitable for Ikea's Metod frames has a height of 8 cm, while for other manufacturers, the plinth's height is invariably 16 cm. We prefer a lower plinth as it creates a more furniture-like appearance and adds extra space inside the cabinet.

Get creative with different materials

In our selection, you can find plinths for Ikea's Metod and Faktum kitchen series in the same colors and materials as our other products. The choice of material allows you to create a visual accent, which plays a surprisingly significant role in kitchen design. For a bolder style, our collection also includes plinths in aluminum and brass. The metallic plinth creates a beautiful airiness beneath the kitchen due to its mirror-like quality.

Without forgetting the functionality 

Underneath the kitchen devices, ventilation grilles are installed in the plinth. You can purchase grilles from Ikea or other manufacturers. Instead of a grille, you can also cut an opening in the plinth during the installation phase. However, it's essential to remember that appliance manufacturers may require a specific-sized ventilation opening to ensure proper ventilation and avoid voiding the appliance's warranty. If you order your appliances from a source other than Ikea, please check the compatibility of the kitchen devices with a low plinth.
