Kitchen planning checklist

Before you start planning your LONNA kitchen at IKEA, go through these four things that are good to know. Show them to your IKEA planner if needed.

1. Total width

Spacer panels add width

In a LONNA kitchen, a 29 mm thick spacer panel is installed between each cabinet frame. The cover panels on the sides are also 29 mm thick. This means the total width of the kitchen is greater than the combined width of the frames.

Extra width = (number of frames + 1) × 29 mm

Example: a row of 5 frames adds 6 × 29 mm = 174 mm, or about 17 cm.

2. Total depth

30 mm of extra depth

In a LONNA kitchen, the spacer panels extend 30 mm in front of the door line, in line with the handle. This increases the total depth of the kitchen by 30 mm.

This is good to keep in mind especially if the kitchen goes into a narrow space or faces another row of cabinets.

3. Inner drawers

No inner drawers behind doors

If you want to use MAXIMERA inner drawers in a LONNA kitchen, choose drawer fronts instead of doors.

Inner drawers cannot be installed behind doors, as this would require IKEA's 153° opening UTRUSTA hinge, which is not compatible with the spacer panels and door construction of the LONNA kitchen.

4. Corner cabinets

Some corner cabinets do not fit

Not all IKEA METOD corner cabinets fit with LONNA. The following corner cabinets do not fit:

Instead, you can use the larger corner base cabinet in the size 128 × 60 × 80 cm.
